The Ones That Always Work For Me

When it comes to makeup, I get stuck in silly little ruts more often than I probably should. I often just get so overwhelmed with choice that I actually don't know what to use anymore. That's why I have my trusty line up of products that I always gravitate towards when I need something that I can guarantee will work for me.

Foundation wise, it has to be MAC Studio Fix. Not the most longwearing on my skin, despite its ability to probably survive bullets on other people's skins but it's a formula that I love. Because of how good of a colour match it is for my skin, it's my fail safe foundation. I'll probably continue to repurchase this foundation until I find something I prefer that suits my skin tone as good as this does.

For brows, it's the Soap & Glory Archery pencil. I'm not a fan of the tint version of this at all (you know, the one with the 'felt tip' on the end that everyone and their dog seems to love) but this one is a dream to work with. It's been dubbed as an Anastasia Brow Whiz dupe, so it has that really fine tip that's perfect for mimicking natural brow hairs. It's really tiny & compact and also has a spoolie (the best ever) so is perfect for travelling.

I couldn't choose between blushers because I like my two chosen ones for two different reasons. Benefit Dandelion is my all time favourite blusher and one of my first ever 'high(er) end' beauty purchases. It's the most natural pinky blush, so is perfect for no matter what makeup look you go for and it gives a pretty, radiant sheen to the cheeks. Then I chose Douceur by Nars for its ability to completely give life to my face. It's a really muddy rosy pink shade, to the point where it's nearly brown (I'm really selling this shade aren't I?!) but because of this it gives you those chiseled cheek bones that everyone strives for. I love them both but if I was forced to choose one it would undoubtedly be Dandelion.

On the subject of cheekbones, Benefit Hoola is my favourite bronzer I've come across. Being a pale gal, it can be really frustrating trying to find a bronzer to match my skin tone but this one's just such a universal matte shade, I'm yet to find someone who this doesn't look good on. I have my fair share of bronzers in my collection but this is my favourite, no matter how 'basic' and standard it may seem.

I still find it weird that I've grown to love MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft & Gentle as much as I have, because when I first purchased it, it definitely wasn't love at first use. It really warms up the face, gives a really pretty glow when swept over the tops of your cheekbones and I think it would suit most skin tones. As much as I love my other highlighters, I always trust powder ones over cream ones as I sometimes find creams more difficult to apply. This is my pick of the powders.

And finally, my lipstick that goes with every possible makeup look you could do, the cult classic, MAC Hue. It's that perfect pinky-peach nude that everyone loves and I'll definitely repurchase this as soon as it runs out.

What are your fail-safe products that you turn to over and over again?
